As each day passes it's becoming more likely that we're going to be getting an announcement that is major D2R Items announcement. Also, given that The Game Awards is now just a few days from being held, the announcement could be announced during the event. Although there's been no formal announcement from Blizzard, multiple sources appear to be confident regarding this.
The source is Insider Gaming, "this is continuing to be the case, with more than 100 journalists receiving the chance to view an behind-the-scenes video as well being able to play the game. It is believed that the embargo for the event and the hands-on experience will lift on December 7.
"During the program, Rod Fergusson invited all of the audience members to watch The Game Awards as they'll be [making] some announcements."
Blizzard have confirmed Diablo 4 is still getting Set Items, though you'll likely have to wait until after launch to use them in-game.
Game designer Joe Shely explains during a recent roundtable conversation that reimagining sets in a manner which is suitable for Diablo 4 properly wouldn't be likely to be available for launch until next year. However, they are considering the possibility of incorporating them into it's live services.
"As we've been working on the game, we thought it was possible to evolve sets in a completely new method that was different from what we've experienced previously in Diablo 3. We needed more time to bring them into Diablo 2 Resurrected Items the game in a way that will fit in with the rest of Diablo 4, so you won't see sets at launch into the game." Shely explains. "We believe that sets are awesome, and we're looking to do them right - so that's something we're looking at for our live service."
